Our Organization

North Salem Soccer Club (NSSC) is a non-profit and volunteer-run organization that offers a positive, enriching, year-round soccer experience for the youth in North Salem NY.  NSSC is committed to developing the whole player and offers programs of play for every player ability level through its affiliations.

The NSSC’s mission is to provide a safe and positive opportunity for the youth to enjoy and become enthusiastic about the game of soccer, thereby fostering their social, emotional and athletic development.

 

North Salem Soccer Club Player and Family Code of Conduct

The North Salem Soccer Club’s mission is to provide a safe and positive opportunity for youth to enjoy and become enthusiastic about the game of soccer, thereby fostering their social, emotional and athletic development.

Our coaches are volunteers who agree to uphold the goals and mission of the NSSC. In addition, families and their players are crucial partners in ensuring the following goals are met.

Failure to uphold the Code of Conduct standards and those outlined in the WYSL Sportsmanship Guidelines and rules, will result in sanctions and the implementation of additional safeguards.

Make yourself familiar with the WYSL rules and regulations.

NSSC Goals:

To provide a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere where youth are treated with dignity and feel they belong.

To introduce the NSSC teams to developmentally appropriate levels of competition.

To focus on long-term player development with a lesser emphasis on winning games.

To help players reach their fullest potential through training sessions that are organized, fun, exciting, progressive and up-to-date.

To develop players who possess sound skills, a solid understanding of the game of soccer, and a readiness for entry into higher levels of the game.

To provide an experience which enhances and develops positive self-esteem while providing the feeling of being a contributing member of the team.

To provide fair and impartial training opportunities for players to acquire the technical, tactical and physical skills necessary for advancement in the sport.

To assist players in developing the virtues of honesty, commitment, dedication, perseverance, self-control, hard work and respect for self, teammates, officials, opponents, fans and property.

To encourage an atmosphere of working together and bonding as teammates to achieve a common goal and positive team spirit.

To promote the ongoing development of coaches and officials to enhance the overall soccer experience.

Show respect and courtesy to coaches, spectators, teammates, and opponents at all times.

Respect the referees by being courteous and maintaining control of my emotions throughout the game. Refrain from making comments or gestures about their decisions during play.

Avoid overly-aggressive play and never play the game in a way that might cause injury to myself or my opponent

If  a player, family member or spectators behavior impedes the goals outlined above then it is the responsibility of the coach to address the behavior with the player and/or the family. Coaches may choose to suspend a player and/or family from games and/or practice if he/she does not exhibit the behavior outlined above. It is the goal of the NSSC to provide a positive and supportive soccer program for all players and we look forward to your support during the season.
